Are We Really Alone In the Universe?

Some of us find the subject of the paranormal to be scary, some find the paranormal to be interesting, and some of us have claimed to have been abducted by a UFO. There’s no doubt that this subject is one that has garnered a lot of attention. There have been television shows about the subject, fictional and documentaries, that can be seen any day of the week. Even the History Channel has had shows that contemplated whether there was a UFO painted into famous ancient paintings. It’s hard to know who is actually telling the truth in these situations. Many people are trying to make money off of people’s interest in the paranormal, and those that claim they have been abducted by a UFO could very well be mentally unstable.

Many scientists are skeptical (to say the least) about reports of paranormal activity. They say that what the layman thinks is a UFO could easily be some type of natural phenomenon. People do not have the scientific credentials necessary to determine whether something they find in the sky is a UFO or not. There has actually been a case in the past where a police officer believed that he was chasing a zigzagging UFO, but it was actually the planet Venus. What seems to be paranormal could be just plain normal when seen by the right kind of expert. Real life doesn’t parallel the X-Files and I don’t see any rational reason why the government would choose to hide details about paranormal activity on Earth.

It is also reported often that pilots have claimed to seen a UFO. The same way that an average citizen would not know the difference between certain atmospheric conditions and paranormal activity, most commercial and military have not done enough scientific study to make these claims either. It is true that they spend much more time in the air as the average citizen, but there are things that don’t happen every day that might create the illusion of paranormal activity. The sun’s light might hit the a plane’s windshield in such a way that the pilot would swear they saw a UFO. The angle in which the light hit may have been a one in a million chance, but the possibility is still there. After all, with the amount of planes flying every day, a one in a million chance doesn’t like such a big number anymore.

Whether there’s any credence to the stories being told by those that claim that they have seen a UFO first hand or not, we can’t make a real decision on that yet. Stories of the paranormal are as old as human intelligence. Wherever there’s a group of people that don’t know what they’ve just seen in the sky, there will be people that will confidently claim that they have seen a UFO. We simply do not know the truth at this point, but I will say that it is definitely fun to think that there might be something paranormal out there.
